There are many cool things in life – being a Parent, Vespas, sledding down a ruddy steep incline…
There are also many uber-cool things in life – 8-bit remix music, Fezzes… and people with a genuine passion for what they do.
And when those people use that passion to try to make a living for themselves in this horses arse of an Economy that we currently live in, we should all be seeking out these people, helping them, encouraging them – showing the world what a true sence of community can be all about.
One such person that really caught my eye recently was brought to my attention by a GamerDads community member @Chilemad on one of his Twitter “Follow Fridays” – his wife Kate (@CurleySew on Twitter).
Fezzes are cool… so are Geeky Waistcoats…
And this is exactly what Kate offers – homemade Waistcoats and Dresses made from just about any material/pattern she can find – and as you can see, it’s the particularly nerdy stuff that really caught my eye.
And this is why @CurleySew is my small business recommendation of the week – Kate takes the thing she loves to do and does something great with it. She uses her skill to support her family and she seems to have a good time doing it – and I love that.
So please do go and check out the http://www.facebook.com/CurleySew page and show your support!
I contacted Kate and asked her to describe her venture in her own words:
